The Room On The Roof by Ruskin Bond

So, this happened to be my first Ruskin Bond novella (although, I am certain that I have read some of his short stories from my school textbooks!). First of all, this is not an extraordinary or an unique story; it is plain and could just probably happen to any other person! However, the sublime exemplification of the Dehra hills and the locality surrounding it is what is truly mesmerising. It is a simple read that can cascade your spirits to a pleasantly higher level. Even so, the central character Rusty, who is in his adolescence, is seen searching for his purpose and true calling and the linear storyline establishes his encounters and approaches to some of the facades that life has to offer. On the whole, it is an endearing read.
